If you were hoping to score an OG Honda NSX or Nissan R34 Skyline GT-R for your collection, you may now have to be super-rich to do so. Hagerty and Broad Arrow Auctions recently revealed the lots heading to this year’s Concours d’Elegance Villa d’Este.

Among the biddable choices is a selection of rare and unique NSX and R34 GT-R examples. But what’s most shocking, aside from the quality and background of the cars on the lot, are the eyewatering values they’re supposedly going for.

Broad Arrow is auctioning off a total of five rare and unique R34 Skyline GT-Rs. They’re part of what the auction house is heralding as the “Ultimate R34 Skyline GT-R Collection.” They’re auctions that highlight how valuable the models have become as a desirable collectible and equitable asset.

Sure, these aren’t garden-variety Skyline models. Nevertheless, the fact that certain versions command the same sort of money as some of history’s most valuable Italian classic supercars is bound to be surprising for some, to say the least.

At the lowest end is a 1999 R34 Skyline GT-R, or Lot 115, which is estimated to claim at least €325,000 and up to €400,000, or $381,744 to $470,126. And it’s not even some crazy one-off NISMO variant.

Rather, it’s a low-mileage example featuring a completely rebuilt RB26DETT, done up by Hosaka Tuning Factory to 2.8-liters (versus the original 2.6) and over 700 horsepower.

Next up is Lot 116. And it features a bone-stock special variant of the R34 Skyline GT-R known as the V-Spec II Nür. It’s one of just 156 made and is valued at around €375,000 to as much as €450,000. Or $381,660 to $528,891.

One of 366 GT-R M Spec R34 Skyline GT-R’s sits in Lot 117. It is anticipated to fetch at least €450,000 to as much as €600,000. Or up to $705,189. One of 14 2001 R34 Skyline GT-R V-Spec II NISMO S-Tunes occupies Lot 118. That’s valued at around €500,000 or $587,392 at the low end.

Rounding out the lot is a one of 20 R34 Skyline GT-R CRS’s by NISMO, with an estimated value of €700,000 to €850,000 or $822,349 to $999,017.

Honda’s OG NSX is booming too

Two notable original Honda NSX models aren’t immune to the value boom either. Lots 234 and 235 feature two minty examples. They may fetch as little as €200,000, or $235,063, to as much as €950,000. (A whopping $1,116,549.)

Lot 234 is a more run-of-the-mill standard right-hand-drive, pre-facelift NSX. But it’s just one of 209 Type S models Honda made that year. And, its original owner is finally parting ways with it after 17 years.

The more expensive Lot 235 features a much rarer and far more collectible NSX Type R. Honda built just 140 NSX Type Rs, and it’s hands-down the most desired of the breed.

For years, both the Nissan R34 Skyline GT-R and original Honda NSX models have been Japanese sports car idols. Both rose to prominence from being star cars in smash-hit racing games.

Including titles like Gran Turismo, Tokyo Xtreme Racer Zero, Midnight Club Racing, Forza and beyond. Since then, the R34 Skyline GT-R and OG NSX have been absolute must-haves.

After JDM-market versions reached 25 years in age, both exploded in popularity even more. And both are more desirable than ever before. That’s because its age made it eligible for importation as a classic car.

R34 Skyline GT-Rs were only sold in the Japanese Domestic Market and other right-hand-drive markets. Because they’re now qualifying for import under the 25-year rule, collectors all jumped on the opportunity. This also had a profound effect on their values on the second-hand market, as we can see with these latest auction closing estimates.
