The HomePod has been available to purchase roughly six months now. And, so far so good. Apple’s first smart speaker has garnered nearly universal praise for its audiophile-esque sound quality — from us, included — and the company just rolled out an update that allows two HomePods to be configured in a stereo pair or in a multiroom system.
The price of the HomePod has been a sticking point since its launch, though, considering most other smart speakers are much cheaper and the HomePod’s voice commands only work with Apple Music. There are even rumors that Apple is planning to release a smaller and cheaper (and maybe portable) HomePod, but that’s not likely to happen in the near future.
That said, today is the first time that I’ve seen that you can actually score a pretty good deal on the HomePod. It’s still going for $349 on Apple’s website, but Best Buy is selling the speaker for $299 in both space gray and white colorways.
