Converse’s Chuck Taylors are perhaps the most iconic sneaker silhouette ever produced — thanks in large part to accessibility and a look that seems to find a new niche to conquer every decade. What started out as the most ubiquitous basketball shoe ever made became punk rock, and later a preppy suburban kid staple. Now, everyone wears Chucks — and today a bunch of them are marked down to $35.
The Converse Chuck 70 Heritage model — of which plenty of sizes in high- and low-top are still available — is an homage to the days when the shoe was a sport sneaker. Bill Russell and Wilt Chamberlain wore them, as did literally everyone else in that era of basketball. This updated version mimics them aesthetically but adds in an OrthoLite cushion for a bit of comfort.
