The Chuck Taylor All Star is Converse’s most well-known style, but the Chuck 70 has become a foundational sneaker in its own right, bringing a premium, 1970s-inspired perspective to the traditional All Star.

The underrated alternative already features heavier-duty canvas, better cushioning and a more durable overall construction, but the latest take on the retro-inspired silhouette raises the bar even further, infusing classic Americana aesthetics into the heritage design.

The latest Converse x Madhappy collaboration sees five new, limited-edition takes on the Chuck 70, in both the High and Ox silhouettes.

The second partnership effort between the legacy footwear brand and the Los Angeles-based lifestyle and apparel brand pays homage to the West Coast, bringing premium materials and a timeless yet refreshed look to the quintessential sneaker.

The new capsule collection emphasizes what already makes Converse a favorite.

Nostalgic felt patches, oversized star cut-outs in suede, pinstripe interiors and cursive co-branding make traditional Converse elements more playful and prominent, while premium materials and hand-done finishes via Madhappy elevate the familiar shoe.

Availability and pricing

The Converse x Madhappy Chuck 70 Hi ($130) and Ox ($120) will release on Friday, May 15th on both Converse and Madhappy’s respective websites and select retailers.

The Graystone colorway of the Chuck 70 Hi is available exclusively at Madhappy.
