Since 2015, the Boston-based brand Nobull has become a mainstay in the CrossFit world. Its minimalist gym shoes are engineered to help minimize the time you spend thinking about your workout gear and focus more on the moves. Typically, when you walk into a box (a CrossFit gym), you’ll notice a lot of very flat and stable sneakers like Reebok Nanos or Nike Metcons. You need to find a shoe that’ll keep you grounded through deadlifts, clean and presses and overhead presses. It’s a very different style sneaker compared to your typical runners. While the shoes couldn’t be more vastly different, Nobull added a runner to its sneaker lineup.
The Knit Runner comes in a variety of colors, each with a corresponding foam midsole. Pick from red, olive, black, white, purple, sand, blue, yellow or grey. An all-knit upper is stretchy to allow for toe splay and breathability. The interior medial post is incorporated into the footbed (it looks like stability runners will appreciate these). There is a 10-mm heel to toe drop, and the shoes are middle of the pack (weight wise) at 10.6-ounces. They also look incredibly similar to the Adidas Ultraboost Uncaged shoes — just with a more visibly all-knit upper — and of course, sans actual Boost foam underfoot. However, the combo works visually and are only $160 compared to the $180 for Ultraboosts. We’ll be sure to get in a pair to test on the pavement, but you can pick up a pair today.
