Carhartt’s roots date back to 1889 when the Dearborn, Michigan-based brand started producing hard-wearing apparel for workers. Now, the offerings have expanded to appeal to more people than just those that need flameproof pants.
Carhartt WIP (Work in Progress) is a separate branch of apparel that produces everything in Europe. This arm of the company remains true to its core values (durable, sturdy, long-lasting) while adding an upscale and refined design quality. WIP has partnered with everyone from APC to Vans, searching for inspiration from music and sport. This week, WIP teamed up with powerhouse brand Nike to design four classic silhouettes.
While people who wear Nike might not pull on a pair of Carhartts daily, the two brands used the templates of four iconic styles, then created new looks with DNA from each brand. You’ll find the Air Force 1 Utility Low, Air Force 1 Low, Air Max 95 and the Vandal Supreme High, all updated with a more Carhartt-like look. Each uses Dearborn canvas and camo tiger ripstop to keep the level of performance high. The design is rugged and built for the streets.
