Just because recovery is a basic building block of fitness doesn’t mean dressing for it has to be boring.

Hoka’s Ora Primo makes the case for looking good and feeling better, and while the slip-on has been offered in various earthy and neutral shades, this bold new colorway might have you adding an extra recovery day to your routine.

And it was all yellow…

Hoka originally released the Ora Primo in December of 2023, with the recovery mule making its debut in Vanilla, Black and Forest Floor colorways.

The new Yellow Gold/Black rendition of the Ora Primo steps boldly away from current versions that keep things neutral, which include Black and a new Light Roast, which is a taupe-ish brown.

The bright, saffron-hued new version of the futuristic silhouette expertly shows off the insulated puff upper, zig-zag stitch detail and tactile round elastic lace system, while the black collar, sidewall and toe bumper keep things grounded.

Aside from its aesthetic refresh, the Ora Primo remains the same forward-thinking recovery shoe, built with a robust EVA foam midsole that delivers neutral stability, a 6mm heel-to-toe drop and, of course, very plush cushioning.

Availability and pricing

If you’d like to support your post-run recovery with something a little more interesting than black or brown, there is a catch: the Ora Primo is only available on Hoka’s Japan website, and at the moment, can’t be found on the U.S. site.

For those able to purchase the shoe, the Ora Primo retails for ¥ 18,700 (approximately $122).
