Right before Christmas, beer lovers were gifted some exciting news: Russian River Brewing Company’s legendary Pliny the Younger triple IPA would, finally, come in bottles.
Pliny the Younger is one of the most hyped beers in America — it’s the number eight beer in the world on Beer Advocate, it’s been brewed only once a year and released on the first Friday of February and it usually only lasts two weeks. Previously, the 10.25 percent ABV triple IPA has only been available on tap at Russian River’s taproom in Santa Rosa, California and a select few beer bars in that area. This year though, the beloved brewery will bottle it in 510mL bottles and release it at both the Santa Rose and new Windsor location on February 7. But don’t think you’ll necessarily be finding it anytime soon — there’s a two-bottle purchase maximum per person and there’s a three hour/three glass maximum at both breweries.
While most won’t get to try it in bottles, the fact that Russian River has decided to finally put one of the most sought-after beers into a take-home format means 2020 is off to a great start for beer nerds.
