The Kings of Homemade Pizza Unveil their Most Affordable, Space-Saving Oven Yet

In the brand’s own words, this backyard appliance offers “chef-level performance” and “compact design for any space.”

According to Statista, the global pizza market accounts for 2.4 million tons per year, of which 845,000 are consumed in the United States alone. Even if you don’t believe the data, you’re likely still aware that pizza is among the most popular foods and has been for generations.

However, it is neither financially savvy nor particularly healthy to get your pizza exclusively from restaurants, either dine-in or delivery. And that’s to say nothing of the variety of pies you could conjure with your own oven.

As such, a home pizza oven is a worthy investment for lovers of these cheesy, saucy discs of joy. And getting one just became a whole lot simpler (in more ways than one) courtesy of Gozney’s new Arc Lite pizza oven.

Small oven, full pies

Gozney is among the top names in home pizza ovens. In fact, it could be argued that the brand is the one to beat. However, many of its ovens have two major downsides: they are high-priced and rather large. That makes it tough for people limited on space and money to snag one.

The Arc Lite, however, is here to quash both of those issues. Not only is this the brand’s smallest oven — meaning it has the tiniest countertop footprint — but it is also the brand’s cheapest. For reference, the Arc Lite will sell for $400, while the next-cheapest option, the Roccbox, starts at $100 more than that ($500).

Thanks to the brand’s precision-controlled lateral flame, you’ll get the perfect crispy crust and melty cheese every time.

As mentioned, it is also quite small. On its widest side (its depth), it measures 18.9 inches. Again, for reference, the average kitchen countertop measures about 24 to 25.5 inches deep, so this oven fits comfortably on the average counter with room to spare (that said, it’s definitely an outdoor appliance, so keep that in mind — wouldn’t want to smoke your house out).

Yet, despite its small stature and matching price, this oven still has some of the brand’s best features and is more than capable of making sizable pies — up to 12 inches, in fact. And that’s just the beginning…

Propane, no pain

The Arc Lite runs exclusively on propane (sorry, woodfire lovers). However, that means it’s incredibly easy to operate and set up. There’s just one connection — the gas hose (with an attached regulator) — and the flow of gas is controlled with a single knob on the lower right of the oven.

However, simplicity in regard to control and fuel doesn’t mean the tech is sacrificed. Inside the oven, it still has the brand’s signature precision-control lateral flame and a baking stone base, which means your pizza cooks more evenly with less rotation, ensuring the crust is crispy, and the cheese is melty every time.

And if you’re worried about heat, don’t be. This oven reaches up to 950° Fahrenheit in just minutes. That’s professional-grade, for those keeping score. See: size isn’t everything.

While the brand technically offers an oven better for travel — the Tread was literally made for it — there’s reason to suggest the Arc Lite could be a close second, especially if you have access to propane wherever you’re going (be that a direct line or tanks). As such, the Arc Lite could be great for cabin, camping or even RV vacations. Of course, it’s also going to be exceptional when kept at home.

With this oven, you might have to start hosting more backyard parties. But it’s so easy, you’ll likely want to, also.
