Crocs’ Fan-Favorite Campground Slip-On Gets a Military-Grade Reissue

The silhouette, released just this year, has already seen a few iterations. But this might be the best one yet.

This year has been a wild one for Crocs. Some of the highlights include a heritage reinterpretation of the brand’s iconic clog, a military-inspired fur-lined slip-on and a pair of outdoor-friendly aprés hike all-terrain clogs.

Turns out, the brand isn’t done just yet. The brand’s latest, the Crocs Echo RO Ripstop Clog, takes perhaps the brand’s best release of the year and gives it a military-inspired upgrade (and not just a stylistic one.)

Made to off-road

Those already familiar with the Crocs Echo RO Clog will be happy to know that the base slip-on is still very much intact. Most critically, that starts with the outsole.

Instead of a single-piece Croslite foam outsole like the Classic Clog, this one has a Croslite foam base with additional treaded rubber “ribs.” That means its still lightweight, but it has a lot more grip than it otherwise would — a boon for outdoor exploration.

Furthermore, the base Croslite is also waterproof and durable, making it easy-to-clean and long-lasting. That upper also pairs with a more advanced, outdoor-friendly version of the clogs’ back strap, which is secure yet easy to adjust when you need it.

It’s also worth noting that these new clogs are available in two colorways: Black and Bark. Both of these colorways are exclusive to this new take. (There are other black options, but none that are all-black like this one.)

Ripstop Crocs

There are two significant differences between this Echo RO clog and the original. The biggest of them is found on the upper (obvious, I know.)

Instead of the typical perforated Croslite foam over the toe, this take sees it swapped for a ripstop overlay. For reference, ripstop is a nylon material originally developed for military parachutes during WWII.

Because of its combination of material and weave, it’s tough, resistant to cuts, abrasions, tears and so on (hence the name.) It also happens to be naturally water-resistant, lending a little extra protection from the weather in these clogs.

The other difference you might notice is that these clogs have a pull tab on the top. This helps make putting the clogs on quicker and more secure.

Overall, it’s a nice reintepretation of an already excellent shoe that’s better for inclement weather and tougher trails.
