Uniqlo’s Perfect White Sneaker Is Shockingly Affordable

The Fall 2025 Uniqlo C collection features classic staples given a modernist twist by designer Clare Waight Keller.

Mixed in with the boxy blazers, slouchy sweaters and baggy trousers is a sneaker so versatile it appears throughout the new catalog, paired with just about every style in the collection.

Hardly an original design, Keller’s take on an all-purpose white sneaker resembles the Puma Roma and several Adidas models, including the Samba and the SL 72.

Based on the color scheme alone, the Uniqlo C Suede Combination Sneaker is also inspired by the West German Army trainer, or BW Army Shoe, which became iconic when Maison Margiela replicated it in 1999.

The combination of white leather — faux, in this case — and off-white suede with a gum sole has proven timeless with infinite styling capability.

Like the $750 Maison Margiela Replica Sneakers and $110 Adidas Handball Spezial, Unilo C’s tonal sneaker is perfect for daily wear.

But it bests those examples in value with a price of only $60.

Mixed materials

Uniqlo offers incredible bang for your buck thanks to its streamlined operation and sheer size. However, even the Japanese retail behemoth has to make some concessions to sell a sneaker at this price.

For example, the biggest difference from a standard pair of Adidas Sambas is that the upper is mostly synthetic leather. The only natural fiber is the suede used for the toe cap and heel counter.

On the plus side, this eliminates any breaking-in process because the faux material has plenty of flex. Many sneaker leathers are extremely low quality and feature a plastic coating, so the difference isn’t as severe as it seems.

However, compared to Maison Margiela and any other high-quality leather sneaker, the drop off in quality is equivalent to the price. Uniqlo’s white sneaker offers comfort and style, but not longevity.

Sizing is an issue

Uniqlo C’s gloriously versatile sneaker presents one more issue for anyone who wears sneakers that are larger than size 10.

The entire collection is designed and marketed as unisex. In addition, Uniqlo’s footwear tends to conform to sizing standards for the Asian market.

The result is that the Suede Combination Sneaker only goes up to size 10, or European size 44.

It is also described as a narrow fit, so if you’re a wide 10 like me, you’re still out of luck.

Availability and price

For men and women who can fit into a pair, Uniqlo C’s Suede Combination Sneaker offers an excellent cost-per-wear value, because it can be worn with just about anything.

While the upper is mostly synthetic leather, the mesh lining, padded tongue, foam midsole and synthetic rubber outsole are on par with $100 sneakers.
