A reader recently wrote us to ask if we knew of any solutions for making coffee at a picnic. It seemed a bit strange considering we’re in the middle of February, but we can’t blame people for planning ahead. While the GSI Mini Espresso Maker is ideal for roughing it, the Handpresso is a slightly classier option, which we think works better for a picnic scenario. It’s also worth noting that the Handpresso can be purchased as part of an outdoor kit ($199) (shown above), which packs a set of unbreakable espresso cups and a thermos for keeping water warm in one genteel leather case. Unless you’re willing to have Jeeves ruin your romantic coffee break for two, though, keep in mind you’ll still have to pump your own shots versus just pressing a button.
