It’s no secret that contemporary furniture designs pull from mid-century aesthetics — sometimes copying outright, other times simply riffing on shapes and materials. Amsterdam Modern, a Los Angeles-based vintage furniture dealer, recently launched a collection of housewares inspired by mid-century designs and entrenched in contemporary California aesthetics. New Made LA was conceived as a solution to the ever-rising prices of authentic mid-century furniture, applying celebrated design principles to accessible, affordable housewares like planters ($45), light fixtures, wall hooks ($15) and small furnishings, like a birchwood folding stool ($185) and a series of nesting tables ($265+).
