This New Book Surveys the World’s Largest Collection of Coffee Cup Lids

A loving ode to the modest, yet apparently artful, coffee lid.

Louise Harpman and Scott Specht are architects with a particularly piqued interest in the design of the universally familiar: specifically, the little punched and perforated coffee tops that more than 200 million Americans handle every day. Their new book, Coffee Lids: Peel, Pinch, Pucker, Puncture, surveys what the Smithsonian calls “the world’s largest collection of coffee cup lids.” Out next month, the book is currently available for pre-order.
