Ever-growing, morphing and evolving, motorcycle classification can get pretty funky quickly.

Just look at Suzuki’s website, where you’ll encounter both Touring and Sport Touring categories, housing the Boulevard C50T Special and the GSX-S1000GT+, respectively.

Best of both worlds: Suzuki’s top crossover bike combines Gixxer performance and V-Strom ergonomics.

Yet, if you seek the brand’s most capable and versatile touring bike, you’re better off clicking on a different category altogether: Crossover.

That’s where you’ll find the new GSX-S1000GX+, which blends superbike-level performance with premium handling, comfort, connectivity and a brand-new wrinkle into quite possibly the best touring bike you can find for less than $20,000.

Just wing(let)ing it

We’ll jump into a few of this standout bike’s highlights shortly, but in honor of the inverted pyramid (RIP), let’s dig into the most newsworthy element first.

Because while the 2026 edition of the bike features everything great about its predecessor, it also boasts a small but notable — not to mention very trendy — upgrade.

Say what you want about winglets, Suzuki’s approach here is pretty understated compared to some others.

On the sides of the fairing, just behind the forks and a bit below your knees, heightwise, you’ll find small aerodynamic winglets.

These odd little pieces, which we’ve been seeing on more and more motos of all stripes (even some new Harley-Davidsons), are intended to enhance stability.

To what degree is a matter of debate, but it does go to show Suzuki is leaving no stone unturned in optimizing this bike.

That sort of attention to detail is especially nice with a small touch like this one, which helps you keep the shiny side up without really affecting the price.

Strong foundation

Of course, this new feature only builds on top of all the other things that make the GSX-S1000GX+ such a winner.

After all, the bike essentially offers the best of two iconic Suzuki platforms: the performance of the super-sporty Gixxer and the ergonomics of the adventure-ready V-Strom.

The former emerges from the 999cc inline-four engine, which delivers steady power and inspiring mid-range performance ideal for sport touring.

The latter owes to an aluminum twin-spar frame and optimized rider triangle that blends sportbike agility and long-distance comfort.

The GSX-S1000GX+ also boasts a real alphabet stew of rider-friendly acronyms, including Suzuki Advanced Electronic Suspension (SAES) and the Road Adaptive Stabilization (SRAS), which team up to smooth out the ride from city streets to highways to less-polished terrain.

Did I mention 25.7-liter side cases come standard? Because they do!

Easing the ride even more are Suzuki Intelligent Ride System (S.I.R.S.), Active Damping Control, electronic rear preload adjustment and Smart Cruise Control, which even stays engaged during clutch-free quick-shifting.

This bevy of tech — plus navigation, communication and music — can be monitored and controlled through the large 6.5-inch full-color TFT display.

That all adds up to a pretty damn compelling package, no matter how you choose to classify it.
