Honda’s Beloved Entry-Level Retro Street Moto Gets One Delicious Makeover

Dubbed “Candy Toffee Apple Red Metallic,” this unique treatment makes the super-approachable bike look better than ever.

It’s no secret that small-displacement retro-styled motorcycles are very much having a moment.

They can be frustratingly tricky to procure in the US, but one needs only to look across the pond for the evidence.

After all, Honda’s endlessly charming GB350S is not only the UK’s bestselling modern classic but also Brit moto site Visordown’s pick for best A2 bike of 2025

While the standard versions are head-turning enough, a custom-made edition from Doble Motorcycles looks as tasty as its name.

How do you like this Apple?

To those who keep tabs on the popular Surrey-based moto shop, this one-off for a customer (price not disclosed) should come as no surprise.

Doble Motorcycles has a rep for partnering with renowned designers and paint shops for unique revisions.

Last fall, they teamed up with the legendary Guy Willison on a sweet update of the Honda CB1000 Hornet.

This time around, they’ve tapped Nottingham’s Dream Machine to zhuzh up the GB350S’s fuel tank, leading to the stunning finish.

It’s complemented by a toffee-toned leather seat, the other half of the reason the bike’s color has been labeled “Candy Toffee Apple Red Metallic.”

These two touches are all that’s really needed to max out the classically styled curb appeal.

The requisite throwback touches are already in place, highlighted by the always-welcome Universal Japanese Motorcycle silhouette, complete with a retro round headlight, gauge and mirrors, and the tank’s timeless teardrop shape.

The aesthetic pizzazz is complemented by more power and tech than you might expect in a bike with a starting price of £3,999, just a bit under $5,500 USD.

The bike itself is pretty much true to its name, too, thanks to a lively 348cc engine.

The air-cooled 348cc single-cylinder engine makes 21 horsepower at 5,500 rpm and peak torque of 21 ft-lbs at 3,000 rpm, doling out character and bursts of acceleration in equal measure.

Approachability is boosted by the 31.5-inch seat height, 392-pound curb weight, reliable brakes and suspension and a number of rider-friendly features.

These include an assist/slipper clutch, Honda Selectable Torque Control (HSTC), full LED lighting and ABS standard.

Dunno about you, but I’d say the Red Apple Metallic tank and Candy Toffee saddle go together like PB and chocolate.

While this particular treatment is a one-of-one, we Americans can take cold comfort in the fact that it’s just as elusive as the normal edition, which we can only hope someday makes its way to our shores.

Meantime, have a look at Honda’s admittedly less colorful SCL500, which offers tempting entry-level retro scrambler energy.

Not unlike the famous Model T, it comes in any shade you want as long as it’s black.
