A Storied Italian Brand’s New Program Will Produce Motorcycles Unlike Anything on the Market

MV Agusta’s ambitious Sartoria Meccanica initiative aims to raise the bar for factory two-wheeled customization potential.

As much as motorcycles can be defined by their performance capabilities — be it of the “go-fast” or the “go-anywhere” variety — they’re nothing without a little bit of personalization.

After all, even if building a bespoke cafe racer or some sort of other original creation isn’t really your speed, customization is a huge part of the experience. Be it a case of a few simple stickers, some tweaks to the cockpit or a complete bodywork repaint, you have to make it your own for it to really be yours

With this in mind, MV Agusta has launched its “most advanced and exclusive customization program ever” to give riders the opportunity to design and purchase a motorcycle unlike anything else on the market.

A tailormade mechanical experience

MV Agusta calls it the Sartoria Meccanica, which translates to “mechanical tailoring” in English. It’s a fitting description for the initiative, as it’s not an online configurator or a pre-made list of available options.

Rather, it’s a “specialized atelier for true connoisseurs” that provides virtually no limits as to what a customer can create. From unique liveries, custom colorways and graphics to special components and hand-finished details, the possibilities are all but endless.

According to MV, the Sartoria Meccanica program will be available in three distinct tiers depending on a customer’s desired level of personalization.

As the entry into the range, the Essenziale (essential) will allow for choice of colors, graphics and material choice for the desired model’s saddle.

The Ricercato (wanted) and Iconico (iconic) levels, meanwhile, will bring even higher degrees of complexity and exclusivity.

Though the former adds impactful areas of customization in the frame, the swingarm and the triple clamp, the latter is even more significant in that it essentially turns the bike into a blank canvas.

As such, assuming you spring for the highest option, MV is willing to go well beyond the motorcycle, working with one-off technical solutions, custom-designed motorcycle helmets and even a personalized paddock stand.

Par for the proverbial course

From the F4 Senna to the Superveloce Alpine, MV Agusta has a rich history of building special edition motorcycles. Accordingly, the Sartoria Meccanica program — and its intrinsic focus on individuality — is a natural progression for the brand.

The Superveloce is a striking motorcycle in any hue, but this blue is a refreshing break from the brand’s usual reds.

It’s worth noting that MV states that “every request is meticulously evaluated, and if technically and legally viable, executed with the utmost precision.” In other words, your design had better be up to par with the prestigious Italian manufacturer’s standards.

Assuming the brand is willing to take you on as a client, though, your bike will bear a plaque with the Sartoria Meccanica badge, identifying it as a true one-of-one masterpiece.

However, just because you’re getting special treatment doesn’t mean that you’re exempt from MV’s usual services — like all of the brand’s bikes, it’s covered by a five-year warranty.

As exclusive as it gets

MV Agusta has yet to mention pricing, but a program touting this level of customization can’t come cheap. In other words, if you have to ask, well…

Looking past dollar amounts, though, the Sartoria Meccanica is bound to produce some truly exceptional motorcycles. Given MV Agusta’s track record of making stunners like the Superveloce Arsham, hopefully, prospective owners are feeling creative.
