Founded in 1974, Fox Racing was built by a family that enjoys life on two wheels and wanted to share that passion with the world. Founder Geoff Fox was a physics professor who loved riding and worked with his brother to initially develop racing components for motorcycles. Today, Fox Racing produces quality gear and apparel that encourages riders to safely push their adventures further. We spent the morning at the Top of the World in Laguna Beach riding with the Fox bike design team followed by a walk-through of their headquarters in Irvine, California to see the trails and spaces that inspire their well-known designs. Rooted in Southern California, we couldn't imagine a better place to research, design and test the brand's product line (and grab a sneak peek of what’s to come). Fox Racing migrated from Northern to Southern California in the early 2000s where it remains today. The new HQ is home to everything from operations and designs to product creation. As the brand grows, it continues to retain a close-knit feel that focuses on community, safety and epic adventures. We caught up with Mark Finley, the marketing manager, to visit the office and see the products in action. “This was originally an abandoned warehouse, it took a year to remodel and build it out to the way we wanted it," said Finley. "Today, we have everything from global sales meetings to showrooms and our own video and photo content studio on-site. During covid we remodeled and we wanted to build open spaces where you don't have to sit at your desk and work.” The pump track right in the back of the office allows Fox Racing employees and enthusiasts to test new products in their own backyard. And let's be honest, it's just pure fun too. Recently in January, Fox hosted the Backyard Invitational where the team invited the fastest kids in Southern California to compete. $10,000 in prize money was up for grabs in the pump track challenge, plus a matching sum for another pit bike race. Some 800 people showed up to catch the action. As a leader in mountain biking and motocross apparel, it's important for the brand to cultivate a community by providing a place to ride, and the track at its HQ is a critical part of this effort. The Fox Racing headquarters is far more clubhouse than corporate office park, and with the team hard at work developing and iterating on the future of biking gear and safety accessories, it feels like the best is still yet to come from Fox Racing.
