The One Pocket Tool Every Knife Enthusiast Should Own

Whether you’re the owner of an expanding collection of pocket knives or the favorite that you’ve kept for years, blades need attention from time to time.

It doesn’t matter whether you’re the owner of an established collection or sticking to the same folder your dad gave you as a teenager; pocket knives new and old require maintenance. As the maker of collectible and practical blades, CRKT knows this and is addressing it with a just-announced tool called (frankly) the Knife Maintenance Tool.

Designed by mechanical engineer Tom Stokes, the Knife Maintenance Tool has two sharpeners — one is a tungsten carbide field sharpener, and the other is a ceramic honing edge — that are fit for use with “nearly every folding knife in existence,” according to CRKT. It also has T6 and T8 TORX tools that fold in and away from the tool’s main body and allow knife users to adjust pivot nuts and the screws that keep pocket clips and back spacers in place.

For all its practicality, the Knife Maintenance Tool is tiny — it’s 2.2 ounces in weight and 2.7 inches in length. That means it’ll easily fit on a keychain (for the pocket knife fanatic) or tucked away in a drawer (for the rest of us).
