Jun Takahashi is best known as the founder of the Japanese streetwear brand Undercover, but for many, exposure to his work may come through Nike. That’s because Takahashi is a runner, and in addition to co-founding the Tokyo-based run club Gyakusou International Running Association, he’s been working with Nike for nearly a decade on Gyakusou, a collection of running apparel that blends Takahashi’s streetwear inclinations into performance-driven pieces.
The Spring 2019 Gyakusou Collection just surfaced, and the collaboration looks to be one of the most interesting yet. Much of it is apparel — there’s a running jacket called Transform that has a top portion that can be removed, mid-run; and tights that use targeted compression to minimize seams — but there are also new colorways of the Vaporfly 4% and Pegasus Turbo that’ll have runners and streetwear fans elbowing for sizes. One of our staff members even admitted, “I’ve never wanted a pair of 4%s until now.”
The Spring 19 Gyakusou Collection is available as of February 28.
