Garmin updated its beloved Forerunner line with five new models: Forerunner 45, 45S, 245, 245 Music and 945. Beyond the numbers, the watches will appeal to three different types of runners — a beginner (45), someone who casually races or runs (245) and the competitive athlete (945). Each watch comes with Garmin’s renowned GPS tracking abilities, in addition to wrist-based heart rate, smart notifications and safety tracking which sends your name + location to your emergency contacts. All of the watches also have auto pause, and laps, calories burned, VO2 max estimate, sleep tracking all on a color screen.

While each watch offers slightly different tracking options, the one we’re most excited about is the Garmin Forerunner 945 thanks to its 1,000 song storage ability, training load focus, Pulse Ox Sensor, Garmin Pay (like Apple Pay), plus its bike power and swim stats. As one of our Best GPS running watches, we already know it’s great for runners, but with so many features, it’s also an excellent choice for any triathlete.

Finding the right watch for you can be a tricky task — some have way too many functions, and others have not enough, but Garmin makes it easy with a comparison chart on the Forerunner page. Head to Garmin.com to shop every single model, plus figure out which one is best for your activity level and goals.
