Carhartt’s Latest Release Brings Serious Style to Its Iconic Work Jacket

The four new iterations of the brand’s iconic workwear staple remix form and function, imbuing the timeless staple with a sense of modernity.

To celebrate its 50th anniversary, Carhartt recently re-issued the Active Jac, refreshing its iconic workwear staple with influences from the brand’s archives. Now, Carhartt WIP is getting in on the fun with four new iterations of the classic OG Active Jacket.

The Carhartt WIP OG Active Jacket 50th Anniversary Edition will come in four special-edition designs, all inspired by the original jacket and all reversible, increasing both their utility and style.

Double trouble

Each version of the new Carhartt WIP OG Active Jacket 50th Anniversary Edition carries through design elements found on the OG Active Jacket, which was released in 1997 as a reinterpretation of the Active Jacket, introduced in 1975.

The more relaxed, hooded bomber-style shape, triple stitching and gold-tone hardware all carry over from the OG Active Jacket, which was created nearly 20 years after the original as an oversized alternative.

The four new designs will come in two canvas options, one denim style and one leather jacket, each featuring commemorative details of the 50th anniversary.

The canvas options, both constructed with Carhartt’s signature Dearborn Canvas, will come in two colors: a black version with a red reverse, which pays homage to the first ever Active Jacket, and a Hamilton Brown version, which is complemented by a new “Camo Trebark” print.

The denim style features a stone-bleached finish on one side, and on the other, a diamond-quilted, red sateen, with detailing including anniversary labeling, graphic patches and embroidery.

The best for last

While the two canvas jackets and denim jacket retail for $398, the leather version takes things up a few notches with a whopping $1,690 price tag, thanks to its midweight, premium leather material.

One side boasts black calf leather, while the reverse is constructed with 100-percent organic cotton Dearborn Canvas in Hamilton Brown, rooting the high-end take in foundational Carhartt style (and durability.)

The OG Active Jacket 50th Anniversary Edition Leather, like the other jackets in this special-edition release, features graphic patches and embroidery nodding to the heritage of the jacket.
