Recent days have seen a number of notable knives hit our radars, with a bevy of US-based brands, including Ka-Bar, Spyderco, Case Knives and New West KnifeWorks, proving that, tariffs be damned, American knife making forges ahead.

Yet, the most interesting recent release is neither American nor a knife, per se. From the Chinese knife capital of Yangjiang, China comes Tacray’s MT1, one super-handy titanium multi-tool.

Catch up on everything that’s turned heads lately below.

Ka-Bar Mark 25

The successor to the fan-favorite Ka-Bar Mark 98, this new version sports a more modern overall style marked by improved ergonomics and futuristic detailing. Measuring 8.75 inches overall, it boasts a 3.75-inch black drop-point blade (with flipper and fuller deployments) alongside a GFN handle. However, if this one doesn’t quite strike your fancy, it has a more aggressive sibling in the Ka-Bar Warthog Folder, which has a similar design language, materials and price.

Kizer Dodo

Kizer’s Dodo might seem like an unlikely combination, but it works surprisingly well. It features a karambit-inspired form, including a signature finger hole on the tail for a tactical grip, paired with a fan-favorite cleaver-style blade. The unconventional pairing is surprisingly utilitarian, making quick work of long cuts and chopping tasks alike. It also boasts a handy flipper deployment, Nitro-V steel, and a grippy, futuristic handle made from either Richlite, G-10 or PC.

Spyderco ButtonUp

For all the knives Spyderco has released since its very first folder in 1981, the brand had never made a manual-opening button-lock folder. That changes with this Eric Glesser design, which also boasts a 3.27-inch modified clip point blade made of 8Cr13MoV (plain edge or combination edge — and with a black oxide finish for $5 more) and handle scales made of smooth carbon fiber/G10-laminate.

Tacray MT1

There’s a problem with most multi-tools. Either they’re so overloaded with tools that they’re hardly EDC-friendly, or they’re too minimalist and don’t have enough of a variety to make them truly utilitarian. Tacray looks to close that gap with its Goldilocks-like MT1. This titanium-bodied tool is small and light enough to carry in your pocket like a standard knife, but it still has a lot more functionality, including a knife blade, bottle opener, driver, flashlight, glass breaker, seatbelt cutter and more. Oh yeah, and the tools are one-hand-operable and locking.

Civivi Kukei

This Tashi Bharucha design radically reinterprets a traditional Japanese pocket knife, the higonokami, that emerged in the post-samurai Japan of the late 1800s. It features a 2.02-inch modified sheepsfoot blade made of Nitro-V steel that riffs on the higo’s classic reverse tanto, a front flipper, a modern liner lock and handles made of either Guibourtia wood or shredded carbon fiber.

Tenable Fenrir Top Liner Lock

Available in a number of material configurations from both Kansept and Tenable, the Fenrir boasts a 3.5-inch harpoon-style blade that not only looks fierce, but also relies on its wide belly and narrow tip to tackle a range of EDC slicing and piercing tasks. This latest configuration swaps out previous mechanisms including the crossbar lock and button lock for a sturdy alternative that’s both easy to use and fidget friendly.

Spyderco Shaman Salt

Based on the smaller, fan-favorite Native, the Spyderco Shaman was already one of the brand’s beefiest, most formidable folders. But now it gets a major boost to all durability with its addition to the Salt lineup. That means a steel swap for MagnaCut, which is far more corrosion resistant than the base model. And it sees its G-10 scales given the signature Salt machining, which offers better grip in wet conditions. Of course, it still has that legendary Compression Lock and Round Hole deployment.

Case Knives Crossroads XR Barlow

The latest entry in Case’s Crossroad Series is the XR Barlow, a modern take on the iconic knife pattern. Highlights include a clip point blade made from CPM S35VN stainless steel with a satin finish and black and tan Richlite handle options with elongated black G-10 bolsters and black G-10 liners. The XR Barlow comes in at 5.88 inches tip to tail, with a lightweight 1.3-ounce design.

Civivi Yonder (C23073B-2)

Considering the fact that Zac Whitmore’s debutante design won Best Buy of the Year at Blade Show 2024, the Yonder was already a superstar. This treatment, however, might be the best yet. The spey point blade boasts 2.88 inches of black stonewashed 14C28N, which offers a strong blend of sharpness, corrosion resistance and toughness. The scales, meanwhile, are made of black burlap micarta, while the “desert tan” thumb studs and liner add an elegant pop. Taken together, they give this knife a stunning look that outshines much pricier rivals.

New West KnifeWorks Saddleback MagnaCut Glory Folder

The most notable element of NWKW’s latest pocket knife is undoubtedly the 2.75-inch modified drop-point blade made of MagnaCut steel, which boasts a seemingly unbeatable blend of toughness, wear resistance and corrosion resistance. However, the handle of this American-made EDC champ is no slouch either: a tough titanium frame outfitted with your choice of G10, carbon fiber and desert ironwood scales.

Victorinox x La Marzocco Barista Tool

Designed for the at-home barista with a passion for multi-tools, the Victorinox x La Marzocco Barista Tool is well-equipped to handle any espresso-related needs. A steam wand nozzle remover, screwdrivers for common machine adjustments, and a coffee spatula, nestled alongside classic Swiss Knife features like the can opener, wire stripper and tweezer, make this a compact must-have for any EDC enthusiast or coffee lover. At less than 4 inches and 5 ounces, it’s a precision-oriented tool that will look right at home next to your espresso machine.

Flytanium Beef

While there are plenty of brands trying to push the limits of what’s possible with EDC knives, the real truth is that people really just need simple, sturdy, dependable folders most of the time. And that’s precisely what Flytanium has offered with the Beef. According to the brand, “it might not be anything fancy, but it gets the job done.” Therein lies the beauty of the beef; it’s highly capable with an aluminum handle, 14C28N steel blade and crossbar lock, and eschews anything unnecessary or over-the-top. All killer, no filler. Best of all, it’s incredibly affordable.

CJRB Tundra

Boasting a full-bellied 3.75-inch drop-point blade made of tough D2 steel, this rugged beast of a knife is beyond equipped to tackle everyday tasks big and small. The handle is just as substantial, with full steel liners and grippy G10 scales, and deployment is smooth and secure thanks to a snappy rear flipper, ambidextrous thumb studs, a ceramic ball bearing pivot and a liner lock. The Tundra packs with a secondary threaded locking pin for additional safety, too.
