Consumers are looking for faster, lighter footwear that can pull double duty on the trails, streets and everywhere between.

According to the Outdoor Industry Association’s 2025 Consumer Trends Report, casual and active lifestyle participants now account for more than 90 percent of outdoor market spending, even as hiking participation continues to reach record highs.

Brands are listening to the demand, and the latest demonstration comes in the form of Salomon’s new collaboration shoe with Copenhagen-based Pas Normal Studios.

The Pas Normal Studios x Salomon Grvl Concept is designed to easily transition between roadways, mixed terrain and rugged off-road environments.

Built to roam

The Grvl Concept is not a completely new silhouette; Salomon released its gravel-specific shoe on May 6th, positioning the new model as a road-to-trail hybrid with a high stack height, performance foam, full-length carbon plates and outsoles inspired by gravel bike tires.

Now, less than a month later, we’ve got a follow-up on our hands … or rather, feet.

The Pas Normal Studios x Salomon Grvl Concept brings the performance-ready silhouette into the high-end cycling apparel brand’s T.K.O. Collection, its signature experimental and artistic sub-label dedicated to bold new designs.

The collaboration maintains the PEBA-based supercritical foam midsole and dual Energy Blade full-length carbon plates, as well as the minimal 9-ounce weight, 6mm drop and maximal cushioning.

The lugs go from 2 to 2.5mm, the integrated gaiter gets outfitted in a striking green hue and the upper is reimagined in a gritty new brown shade with contrasting off-white Quicklace Neo system.

Minimal Pas Normal Studios branding appears as a small T.K.O. hit on the forefoot and the label’s initials on the back heel.

Thanks to its earth-toned new color palette and continued hybrid design, the new Grvl Concept both visually and physically excels in off-road and urban environments.
