Salomon’s New Shoe Looks Like Streetwear, but It’s as Technical as They Come

The brand’s new gravel shoe would like right at home in New York City or London. But the Grvl Concept is anything but casual.

At first glance, it looks like something you might spot on the streets of London or New York City. But the new Grvl Concept from Salomon is anything but a casual XT-6 spinoff.

The shoe represents Salomon’s most ambitious foray into gravel running, a segment it started to lean into with the DRX Defy Grvl from 2024.

However, it aims to deliver performance on par with today’s top road racers with its PEBA-based supercritical foam midsole and pair of full-length carbon plates.

Underfoot it pairs an outsole inspired by gravel-bike tires with shallow lugs for variable surface types, while an integrated knit gaiter keeps debris from getting in through the top.

See below for official photos and purchase options. The Grvl Concept is available now from Salomon’s website for $250.
