This Robust Adventure Backpack Travels Seamlessly from Airports to the Outdoors

When it comes to travel backpacks, I am not easily impressed. The fact is, I see a lot of them in my comings and goings, and few do anything all that different from the many, many options on the market.

Yet, the longer I’ve considered Stubble and Co’s Motion Adventure Pack 38L, the more I find to love about it. Not only is it really solid from top to bottom, but it also has a ton of smaller details and innovations that elevate it, even among its myriad peers.

It might just be the best adventure pack I’ve seen all year, even considering its stiff competition.

Neither boastful nor bashful

For any bag to be impressive, it has to meet some baseline standards. And the Motion Adventure Pack ticks all those boxes right out of the gate.

It’s made from a combination of 210D nylon mini ripstop and 420D x 600D nylon 2-tone ripstop, both 100-percent recycled. That means it’s both lightweight and durable, resistant to abrasions, punctures and even inclement weather (nylon is naturally water-resistant). That combo also means the bag can handle the rigors of travel and outdoor adventures equally.

Altogether, the bag weighs just 2.2 pounds, which is impressive considering it offers a whopping 38 liters of internal storage. That’s more than enough for a weekend getaway, and it makes a great auxiliary bag for longer trips, in addition to your checked luggage.

And since it has a clamshell opening, granting full access to its interior, as well as internal organizational pouches, staying organized is a snap. However, all of this is to be expected. Where this bag really shines is when you start looking at the nitty-gritty, smaller details.

The devil is in the details

That’s not the end of the expected features, not by a long shot. This pack also has things like a 17-inch laptop compartment, which doubles as a hydration pouch (complete with a hose passthrough), padded straps (including a waist belt, sternum strap and load lifters), quick-release buckles, water bottle pouches and more.

In fact, that’s still not even close to the full list. Point is: this bag is fully kitted for travel and adventure. But it also has some smaller details you might not notice at first that make for an even smarter, more utilitarian hauler.

For instance, in addition to a small, top-accessed, quick-access pocket perfect for EDC, it also has a zippered, stretchy pouch on one of the shoulder straps, sizable enough to stash your smartphone and in a much more advantageous, within-reach spot.

It also gets an integrated rain cover with dedicated storage, helping make it even more weatherproof if the skies take a turn. There are also small reflective elements to increase the visibility of the wearer in low-light and an attachment point on the lower back compatible with bike lights, increasing its safety potential tenfold.

And there there’s compression straps, external storage straps (for a bed roll or jacket, for instance), easy-grab zipper pulls — the list just keeps going on and on…

Best of all, you get all of that (and more) in a package that doesn’t look anywhere near as bulky as you might expect. In fact, the bag is downright sleek, all things considered.
