The North Face’s Classic High-Pile Fleece Is an Absolute Steal Right Now

Before “heritage fleece” became a trend, The North Face was making jackets like this. Now one is on sale for $55.

The North Face has built its reputation on a range of fleeces that tend to follow a familiar playbook: high-pile fabric, color-blocked paneling, and a logo stitched front and center.

From the Denali to the Gordon Lyons, the formula has stayed largely consistent over the decades — and the Yumiori Full-Zip Jacket is no different. It hits all the hallmarks of a classic TNF fleece, without reinventing the wheel.

What makes this a timely conversation: two of the Yumiori’s colorways — both now discontinued — are currently marked down 50 percent at REI, bringing the price to under $55. That’s a steep cut on a fleece that retails for $110, and one that’s worth acting on quickly, given the limited sizing that comes with closeout deals.

The Yumiori is built around a 255 g/m2 100% recycled polyester high-pile fleece — the kind of chunky, textured material that defined The North Face’s classic look long before “heritage” became a marketing angle.

It features a standard fit with a hip-length cut, and the construction leans into durability with reinforced, mechanical-stretch binding on the cuffs and hem. The center-front features a closed-end VISLON zipper with an auto-lock slider, while the left chest pocket and two hand pockets use the same zipper hardware.

The embroidered logo appears on both the left chest pocket and the back-right shoulder — exactly where you’d expect it. As part of The North Face’s Circular Design program, the jacket is also built to be disassembled and recycled back into raw materials at the end of its life.

Pricing and availability

The two discounted colorways are Estate Blue/Summit Navy/Navy and TNF Black/TNF Black/TNF Black — both currently on sale exclusively at REI.com for $55, down from the regular retail price of $110.

The North Face’s website does not reflect this discount, leaving REI as the only place to snag either colorway at this price. Stock is limited, and sizing is already thinning out, so if you’ve been eyeing a classic high-pile fleece, now’s the time to move.
