In a world of built-in obsolescence and disposable goods, the longevity of cast iron cookware is a welcome departure from the norm.

One of the myriad charms of cast iron cookware is its ability to last for generations. If your favorite pot, skillet or dutch oven is treated with the proper care, your grandkids could be cooking using that very same equipment years from now.

Once again, Yeti is here to elevate the camp cooking experience.

It would only make sense then that Yeti, purveyor of goods built to last, would invest in crafting quality cast iron cookware.

While the brand already had a line of capable skillets available, its newest release addresses a gap in its own lineup: a cast iron pan capable of handling simmering, braising and tackling briskets, chuck roasts, hearty stews and more.

Cue the Yeti Cast Iron Ranch Pan.

Let’s get cookin’

The Yeti Ranch Pan is a deep-walled, do-it-all kitchen tool designed for tough cuts and simmering stews. The pan is pre-seasoned and cast with an ultra-smooth interior, so as soon it arrives, you can get right to cooking.

The Ranch Pan is designed to handle stews and simmering, thanks to its deep walls.

Yeti uses a ceramic-like mold, rather than sand, during its vintage-inspired casting process, with the result being a super-smooth finish on its cast iron cookware. This creates a natural non-stick barrier.

By casting the pan so that it’s thick where it needs to be and thin everywhere else, Yeti kept the weight of the Ranch Pan to an approachable 8.3 pounds.

At just over 8 pounds, the Ranch Pan is large, but not unmanageable.

Whether you’re into braising, simmering, roasting or making a one-pan, kitchen-sink kind of meal, the Ranch Pan is designed to yield an even cooking experience, from your home set-up to cooking off-grid over an open flame.

Keep a lid on it

Along with its newest cast iron pan, Yeti quietly released a key cooking accessory: a complementary stainless steel lid that fits perfectly on the new Ranch Pan or Yeti Cast Iron Skillet 12.

The Stainless Steel Lid is lightweight at 1.59 pounds, shatterproof and dishwasher safe, making it the all-around workhorse any cast iron skillet or pan needs to optimize cooking.

Availability and pricing

The Cast Iron Ranch Pan is available now on Yeti’s site for $375. That price may feel steep, but considering this pan is built to last for generations to come, it starts to make sense.

If you’d like to add the stainless steel lid, which I would recommend, you can pick one up for $50.
