British Columbia-based Viberg just released a refined derby shoe for spring. Designed decades ago by founder Edwin Viberg, the shoe never went to production in his lifetime. After a year of sampling and reworking the original concept, the shoe is now available in two different Italian vegetable-tanned leathers. The Colour C calfskin is practically in a raw state and develops a patina quite rapidly, where the Overdyed Black calfskin is made to completion then overdyed with black pigment creating a matte-black finish that will showcase grey-blue hues with wear.
The shoe features blind eyelets, a kip lining, Goodyear-welt construction and a Dainite sole. Made on a Cantilever Last, the shoe fits slightly small and it’s recommended to size up a half size when ordering. The price of each model is $730 and they’re available in half-sizes from 6 to 13. If you’re in the market for a top-quality derby shoe made from unique leather, this should be at the top of your list.
