Often called the “Patagonia of the UK,” St. Agnes, Cornwall-based Finisterre follows a similar playbook to the beloved American outdoor brand: creating timeless classics from organic, non-toxic materials that deliver performance, style and conscientious design.

The surf-inspired, sustainability-focused label has just expanded its workwear line with the Basset Trucker Jacket.

Merging classic and contemporary design cues with heavy-duty, organic fabrics, the jacket is every bit as mindful as Patagonia’s offerings — yet edges ahead with cooler style.

Responsible style

The Basset Trucker Jacket is built to be a go-to layering piece that can handle the rigors of demanding work as well as everyday activities.

Cut from a hard-wearing 100 percent organic cotton canvas designed for long-term wear, this versatile addition to Finisterre’s selection of stylish workwear builds upon the enduring appeal of the classic trucker jacket.

This new iteration is constructed with a boxy, slightly cropped contemporary silhouette. For those wanting to dial in their fit, there are adjustable waist tabs that help achieve a custom feel.

True to the style’s history, functional details are found all over the jacket. These include double chest pockets, lower hand pockets and metal rivet reinforcements at key stress points.

The classic metal button front closure is made with heavy-duty components, and the neutral (but not boring) Woodsmoke and Navy colorways transition easily from outdoor chores to off-duty plans.

The midweight composition of the Basset Trucker Jacket makes it an excellent standalone piece for spring, summer and fall, and the roomy fit means winter layering underneath is a cinch, too.

While it’s certainly comparable to a Patagonia offering in terms of its colorways and responsible composition, this jacket’s elevated modern style help it stand firmly on its own.

Availability and pricing

The Basset Trucker Jacket is available on Finisterre’s website, retailing for $190.
