“Farm to table” typically refers to restaurants committed to working with fresh locally grown or produced food, but in the case of Nashville-based apparel brand Imogene + Willie, that concept is applied to apparel designed and constructed in the USA, using domestic materials.

The brand’s popular Hencye workwear pant stands out in a growing category thanks to its appealing combination of contemporary styling and traditional patterns and materials.

The pant has sold through each of its restocks, and now it’s back for round three … but after this time, it’s gone for good.

Born in the USA

The Hencye Natural Indigo Work Pant is built using the foundational designs of American workwear, but its USA roots go deeper than its silhouette.

The double knee work pant is part of I+W’s ongoing Cotton Project, which means it’s constructed from Mount Vernon Mills denim made from cotton that’s been farmed regeneratively, ginned and spun in the USA.

That 15-ounce denim carries a slightly heavier weight than traditional jeans, and breaks in beautifully once it’s been worn a few times. But like the material, there’s more than meets the eye when it comes to its natural indigo color.

True blue

The Hencye’s perfectly-worn in indigo wash isn’t your average color treatment. The Cotton Project denim material is dyed with natural indigo grown in the southeast by Stony Creek Colors, a regenerative farm that lies just thirty miles north of Imogene + Willie’s Nashville headquarters.

Stony Creek Colors produces natural indigo dye using traditional methods, using 100-percent plant-based dye and regenerative practices. (If you’d like to learn more about how the farm produces its dye, take a deep dive into this award-winning story, which first appeared in Gear Patrol Magazine.)

The Hencye’s button fly, double knee, utilitarian pattern nods to the workwear roots of Mount Vernon, the 175-year-old mill that produced the denim used in the design.

From top to bottom, these work pants are steeped in heritage and American manufacturing practices. This third restock is the last time the Hencye will be available … once they’re gone, they’re gone.
