Ruark Audio might be late to the mix, but the British audio company just announced its first wireless multi-room speaker: the MRx. The speaker can be linked in a multiroom system with Ruark’s R2 Mk3 and R7 Mk3, as well as other MRx speakers. It has twin 75mm full-range neodymium drivers and a dual channel amplifier, which are the same guts as its MR1 speaker, but the drivers in the MRx have a new cone design to produce more room-filling sound.

The MRx has a 3.5mm analog and optical input, and a USB port, if you want to directly connect to the speaker or just charge your phone. And it supports Bluetooth aptX, as well as Spotify Connect, Deezer, and Tidal streaming. It doesn’t support AirPlay or Google Chromecast.

The speaker won’t be for everybody, as it’s pretty expensive and most people will already have a wireless speaker that they depend on. However, for those who love Ruark Audio, the MRx is a pretty stylish speaker that can be stood vertically or horizontally. The volume knob, right in the middle of the speaker grill, feels a little oddly placed, admittedly.

The MRx will cost $560 and will be available this May. You’ll be able to purchase it in either a white or wooden finish.
