Pro-Ject has had a hot start to 2026. So far, it has introduced the Debut Reference 10, the most high-end (and expensive) turntable in its popular Debut range.

Additionally, the famed Austrian audio manufacturer has released a pair of headphone amplifiers and the Pre Box S3, a compact stereo preamplifier that serves as the “control center” for your home hi-fi system.

Now, Pro-Ject is introducing two new products aimed at adding streaming to your old-school hi-fi system. Meet the Stream Box E and the Wireless Box E.

One streamer, one streaming amp

Both of Pro-Ject’s newest hi-fi components, the Stream Box E and the Wireless Box E, bring Wi-Fi streaming capabilities to traditional hi-fi systems, but they work in different ways.

The Stream Box E is the more straightforward of the two. It’s a music streamer designed to pair with your current integrated amplifier and passive speaker setup. And thus, it allows you to stream high-resolution audio over Wi-Fi to that system.

Additionally, the Stream Box E can serve as a digital preamplifier with a power amplifier.

Passive speakers, made active

The more interesting (at least, in my opinion) of the two components is Pro-Ject’s Wireless Box E.

It’s a streaming amplifier that’s designed to breathe new life into your old passive speakers, but unlike other streaming amplifiers, the Wireless Box E connects directly to the rear speaker terminals. Sort of like a backpack for your bookshelf speaker.

The Wireless Box E is optimized to work with Pro-Ject’s own loudspeaker range, as well as other loudspeakers with that support direct terminal mounting.

For non-Pro-Ject loudspeakers, the company sells an extension cable called the Connect it LS-E Flex.

The Wireless Box E can work as a standalone streaming amp, turning a single passive bookshelf speaker into an active one that supports streaming.

However, it’s really designed to work in a stereo pair. And yes, this means you need two Wireless Box E (so one connected to the back of each speaker). They then pair wirelessly, eliminating the need for speaker cables. And because two Wireless Box E pair wirelessly together, it gives you greater freedom to place the bookshelf speakers .

From there, you can then stream high-resolution audio over Wi-Fi to them.

Powered by WiiM

Pro-Ject’s Stream Box E and Wireless Box E work in different ways, clearly. But as far as streaming capabilities, they are exactly the same.

Each is powered by WiiM OS (that’s right, both are collaborations between Pro-Ject and WiiM, the rising force in multi-room streaming) and supports Spotify Connect, Tidal Connect, and Qobuz right out of the box.

The only real downside is that, like most of WiiM’s streaming amplifiers and speakers, neither of Pro-Ject’s new streamers supports AirPlay, which is a bummer (but not a deal breaker) for Apple users.

Availability and pricing

At the time of writing, both of Pro-Ject’s streamers are only available in the UK and EU, with pricing in those regions.

The Stream Box E costs £159 (roughly $215), while the Wireless Box E costs £199 (roughly $215). Both come in either black or silver models.
