The just-announced McIntosh C2700 Vacuum Tube Preamplifier is really neat because it combines the best components of a stereo preamp and an AV receiver. Its new DA2 replaceable digital input module has a number of inputs (2 coaxial, 2 optical, 1 USB and 1 MCT), so it can be integrated into your current hi-fi setup, plus McIntosh added an HDMI ARC connection so you can hook it up to your TV, thus having your TV’s sound play through your hi-fi system.

The sound quality is where the C2700 really shines. Thanks to the integration of McIntosh’s vacuum tube technology, it’s delivering that warm and wonderful audio experience that audiophiles adore. And then on the TV side, the C2700 also supports immersive multi-channel audio formats from Dolby and DTS; it just converts it so it works with a stereo system.

The great sound quality, integration with your hi-fi and home theater systems, and the gorgeous signature glow that McIntosh components are known for – it comes at a pretty steep price (but you likely already expected that). The McIntosh C2700 costs $8,000 and is available now at Authorized McIntosh dealers.
