Shopping for a TV? There are two optimal times to do just that: right after Thanksgiving when Black Friday deals are live, as well as the run up to the Super Bowl. That latter of which is now.

The reason has to do with the TV release cycle.

Most of the biggest TV brands — LG, Sony, Samsung, TCL and Hisense — announce their new models for the upcoming year at CES in January. These new TVs don’t become available until March or April, meaning retailers are desperate to clear out last year’s stock to make room for the new models. Hence, there are massive sales.

Wait, that means the deals apply to last year’s TVs, not the new hotness? The answer is technically “yes.”

But, while the previous year’s models are almost certainly better, they’re typically not that much better. And the improvements tend to be things the average person wouldn’t notice. This is a big reason why most people don’t need to buy new TVs every year.

Throw in the fact that you can get a year-old TV for many hundreds of dollars less — and it’s really a no-brainer.

Below, we’ve rounded up the best deals on the best TVs you can shop for right now. We’ll update this post over the coming weeks as more TV deals come to light.
