The mechanical chronograph still offers some of the most utility of all available watch complications — you can time laps, or that pot boiling on the stove, or whatever else you need, all without having to result to multi-tasking on your phone. Swiss models from the mid-20th century are readily abundant and many developed a beautiful patina by now. Though they can be pricey to service, if you can snag one from a reputable dealer, these watches can provide decades of use and enjoyment.
What we like: Featuring a relatively rare 45-minute totalizer as well as a running seconds register and telemeter scale, this 2-register chronograph from famed Swisss maker Angelus is a true beauty. Though the dial features some speckling and patination, we believe it only adds more character to this gorgeous timepiece.
From the seller: This example is overall very good. The case is clean with just superficial scratches. May have received a light polish in the past. Movement runs well keeping accurate time, chronograph works as it should. Dial shows age with some blemishes seen throughout.
What we like: Finding a vintage chronograph with a 45-minute totalizer as well as both a telemeter and a tachymeter scale is a tough proposition, but this elegant offering from Gallet managed to incorporate all these features, and to do it without crowding the watch. With its attractive, patinated dial and blue steeled-hand set, this is a timeless design that has aged incredibly well.
From the seller: Watch is in overall excellent condition, case shows marks on the lugs (particularly the lower right) consistent with use and strap changes. Silver Sunburst Multi-Scale Dial is in near flawless condition with crisp printing in red, blue, and black. Blue Steel handset in excellent condition.
What we like: Unlike the first two dual-register chronos featured here, this Wellsbro featured a Venus 175-powered triple register display with running seconds, 30-minute and 12-hour totalizers. With its oversized 38mm case, syringe hands, Breitling-style screw-down case back and pump pushers, this watch simply oozes 1950s class.

With original silver satin dial with aged luminous figures, outer tachometer scale, and blued steel luminous pencil style hands. Powered by Venus 175 manual-wind movement.
