This Solar-Powered Watch is Made from 85% Reclaimed Materials

The SWII from One Eleven Watches is made from recycled water bottles and castor bean oil byproduct — and it’s perfect for the outdoors.

Watchmaking historically isn’t the most sustainable of businesses, though a good watch can and should of course last many years, if not several generations. The SWII from One Eleven Watches, which launched in 2016, goes the extra mile with regard to sustainability: besides its solar-powered dial with 10-year battery life, its strap is made from recycled plastic water bottles, and its case is comprised of castor bean oil byproduct.

The SWII, which is available in four colors, features a 42mm case with 100 meters of water resistance, a minimalist matte dial and a hardened mineral crystal. It retails for $125 and is meant to be used while surfing, snorkeling, hiking or just about anything else that’s vaguely adventurous, making it a great weekend watch.
