This Limited Edition Moonphase Watch Celebrates an Iconic Model

The Lange 1 marked A. Lange & Söhne’s return to watchmaking in 1994 and is one of the few watches one can confidently call a “modern icon,” and a watch that’s hugely significant for the brand. This year, Lange is celebrating 25 years of the Lange 1 watch with limited-edition versions announced each month until its official birthday in October. The brand already released a “25th Anniversary” Lange 1 earlier this year, but February now sees the release of an anniversary model in the form of a Grand Lange 1 Moon Phase to coincide with the opening of a new London boutique.

This Grand Lange 1 Moon Phase features a 41mm-wide white gold case and, consistent with the “25th Anniversary” Lange 1, a silver dial with blue highlights. The signature engraved balance cock, visible along with the rest of the expertly finished movement through a display case back, also has its recesses filled with a blue coating and features a “25” in the style of the big date display the brand is known for. For this edition, the white gold moon phase disc has been hand-engraved with stars and a realistic moon in relief. This Grand Lange 1 Moon Phase is limited to 25 examples and priced around $52,140.
