Quick Take: The new Sinn 6012 for Baselworld 2019 helps remind everyone that Sinn has another, more elegant side apart from the tough sport watches the brand is often associated with. The 6012 is a fairly complicated watch, combining a chronograph with date functions and moon phase. Despite the volume of information conveyed, the dial remains legible, straightforward, and handsome in its presentation. Announced to coincide with 20 years since Sinn’s debut of its Frankfurt Financial District line of business-themed watches, the new steel version is accompanied by a solid 18k rose gold-cased 6012 limited to 50 pieces.

Who It’s For: Sinn and the words “tool watch” are almost inseparable, but the brand equally injects German design sensibility into its less sport-focused collections. The 6012 has practical features with calendar and chronograph complications and is reasonably sized, if on the thicker end of the spectrum like all 7750-based watches. It’s hard to argue with the mix of functional design, useful features, and wearability for those attracted to Sinn’s technical, masculine approach.

Key Features: A width of 41.5mm is wearable for many, but at 14.5mm thick, the 6012 will have a little bit of the “tool watch” feel that characterizes the brand. Powering the watch is the ETA/Valjoux 7751 movement with a 38-hour power reserve, automatic winding and a custom rotor featuring an engraving of the Frankfurt skyline. The movement features a chronograph and displays the time, date, day of the week and month as well as the phase of the moon via a mother-of-pearl disc tucked away into a sib-dial at 6’oclock. The Sinn 6012 will be available later in 2019 on leather or a steel bracelet and price is yet to be confirmed.
