A mini-trend in watches that has gained pace over the last couple years or so has been green dials, be they emerald green, forest green, or other hues and shades. (The Rolex Submariner “Hulk,” reference 116610LV, is probably one of the most famous.) Panerai has given its dials the green treatment before, but now the brand has expanded on it with new models in the Radiomir collection. The four new Radiomir watches each has a matte green dial that suggests a military-themed interpretation of the color matched to beige Super-LumiNova on the hands and indices.
The new watches feature in-house Panerai movements offering various functions. Three references are in bare steel at 45mm wide and use the P.4000 family of movements, with a hand-wound time-only model, as well as more complicated automatic ones with date, GMT, am/pm display, and power reserve indications. A fourth model is easily distinguished in matte black ceramic, at a wrist-eclipsing 48mm wide, and using a hand-wound P.3000 movement. All models get around 72 hours, or three days, of power reserve and have cases water-resistant to 100m.
Prices for the new green-dial Panerai Radiomir watches will start at $11,200 for the 45mm time-only PAM995 in steel with a manually wound movement, $12,000 for the Radiomir GMT PAM998, $12,200 for the GMT Power Reserve PAM999, and $13,300 for the 48mm black ceramic PAM997.
