Jack Mason, a Texas-based manufacturer of affordable tool watches, just released the Camber Chronograph, a 42mm racing-inspired watch available in three different colorways with loads of different strap options. Powered by the Seiko VK63 meca-quartz movement, the Camber offers flyback capabilities (the chronograph seconds hand snaps back to zero and automatically begins timing a new interval with one button push) in an affordable quartz package.
Each Camber features a 42mm steel case with a sapphire crystal, a 22mm lug width and 100m of water resistance. Three different dial colors are available: black with a matching steel bracelet; blue with a matching brown leather strap; and white with a 24k gold PVD-plated case and a brown leather strap. Additional rubber, leather and NATO straps are available at an added cost, and quick-release spring bars on the steel bracelet version make strap-changing a cinch.
Best of all is the pricing for the Camber chronograph: it begins at just $275 for the blue version, $295 for the white version with PVD-coated case; and $350 for the bracelet model. If you love the look of mid-century, automotive-inspired chronographs with tachymeters and tri-compax dial layouts but don’t have thousands to spend, the new Camber could be the watch for you.
