Love G-Shock Watches But Want Something Less Tactical Looking? Check Out the Skeleton Series

Inspired by 90s video game systems, three new Skeleton Series watches feature typical G-Shock functionality in playful transparent colors.

Much as we mechanical watch nerds like to wax poetic about handwound and automatic movements, we’d be hard pressed to deny the advantages of an affordable, feature-laden Casio G-Shock. Made to have the crap kicked out of them, G-Shocks are durable, water-resistant, and are available in more variations and models than you can possibly keep track of.

However, most of these are admittedly rather tactical looking — even the simple all-black models have military associations, given how many guys are sporting them under a uniform. So what if you want the G-Shock specs without the tactical look?

We’d recommend the “transparent jelly style” G-Shocks, part of the Clear Skeleton Series and available in three new colorways. Part of the über-popular DW5600 model range, these new colors feature a one-tone chromatic color casing and matching band in a transparent jelly style with negative LCD displays in a matching color tint (i.e. the numbering on the display of the blue DW5600SB is also displayed in blue).

As usual, the new models are shock-resistant, water-resistant to 200m and feature a stopwatch, multi-function alarm, countdown timer, 12/24-hour time formats and built-in EL backlight. Available this month from G-Shock retailers (including Macy’s) and gshock.com, they retail for $110.
