Hodinkee’s collaborations with Swatch have thus far yielded two fun, affordable watches for everyday wear: the Vintage 84 and the Blue Edition, both powered by the Sistem 51 automatic movement and priced under $200. However their new project, announced today, may be their most versatile and attractive to date.
Inspired by the 1986 Emerald Diver, which featured a green case, fixed bezel, day-date indicator, black dial and a mixture of yellow and green markers, the Generation 1986 is an updated version featuring an all-black 42mm plastic case and similar hour and minute markers with a date indicator at 6 o’clock.
Powered by the automatic Sistem 51 movement with Nivachron hairspring, featuring Swatch Glo lume and water-resistant to an impressive 300m, the Generation 1986 ships on a black silicone strap and is available starting today from Hodinkee’s shop, Swatch’s website, and Swatch’s Times Square Flagship in NYC for $170.
