In the market for an affordable field watch? The Felix, on pre-order from Drop, may be what you’re looking for. Inspired by vintage field watches (think: wire lugs on WWI-era trench watches and 24-hour dials from mid-20th century military pieces), it’s a modern interpretation of the tool watch idea. Featuring a 39.5mm steel case, 4 o’clock crown, double-domed sapphire crystal with AR coating and automatic Sellita SW-200 movement with 39 hours of power reserve, the Felix evokes military watches past but makes use of modern tech and materials, such as bright Super-LumiNova lume, quick-release spring bars on its brown leather strap and an optional exhibition case back.
Available in either bead-blasted steel or and IP black finish, the Felix has an upwardly scalloped black dial with inner 24-hour track, central seconds, orange indices at the cardinal numbers and a sword/pencil-style handset filled with plenty of lume. A screw-down crown at 4 o’clock provides 100m of water resistance — more than enough for most outdoor needs. Each watch ships with a 2-year international warranty and is available today from Drop at a special pre-order price of $299, with a final MSRP of $349.
