The latest iteration of Oris’s popular Aquis dive watch is colored an icy blue to highlight the brand’s support of conservation efforts at Lake Baikal in Siberia. Joining a range of ocean-preservation and environmentally themed themed watches, often in shades of blue, the new Oris Lake Baikal Limited Edition is an iteration of the Aquis Date, the most basic version of the modern diver line.
Oris references the Siberian lake, the deepest freshwater lake in the world, in the new watch’s design. Made in partnership with the Lake Baikal Foundation research center, this Aquis has a vibrant blue dial with a fumé-like gradient treatment and a bezel to match. Rather than using a transparent display for viewing the automatic Sellita SW200 movement inside — as is found on non-limited Aquis Date watches — the case back here features a pattern meant to evoke the frozen-over lake.
Measuring 43.5mm wide and water-resistant to 300m, the Lake Baikal watch comes on Oris’s fine integrated steel bracelet and is limited to 1,999 examples at a price of $2,400 each.
