Indie Swiss watchmaker Baillod — stylized as BΛ1110D — has only been around since 2019, but Thomas Baillod’s family has been in the horology business since 1775.
Honoring that legacy, the brand has meticulously reproduced a 19th-century pocket watch bearing the family name on its dial as a modern dress watch. The faithfully historical dial bears a striking resemblance to one of the most revered luxury watch brands, but comes at a much more affordable price.

The Baillod Chapter 8 Family Legacy Special Edition is based on a pocket watch created in the late 1800s by Charles Baillod. Liliane Murenzi, the brand’s Senior Designer, reinterpreted the design, retaining as much detail as possible, while adding some artistic embellishments.
A thin railroad minutes track runs along the dial’s edge, encircling a narrow Roman numeral hour markers. At the center are Breguet-style hour and minute hands, with a small seconds dial below.

Dial updates include Baillod’s logo in place of the distant relative’s name at 12:00, and a delicate guilloché motif in the center, surrounded by satin brushing along the hour track.
