Back in 2023, iconic Japanese watch brand G-Shock and legendary streetwear outfit Anti Social Social Club teamed up for the first time on an exclusive edition of the G-Shock 6900 Series. Although somewhat stylistically divisive, it sold out almost immediately.

Since then, numerous other special editions of that same watch have emerged, including a unique origami-inspired edition (paired with a classic 5600). But there have also been whispers of the G-Shock x ASSC collaboration reemerging.

Now, the brands’ second collaboration has finally, officially emerged. And the G-Shock x Anti Social Social Club DW6900ASSC25-7, frankly, blows the first one out of the water.

Anti-shock social club

As mentioned, this is the second collaboration between G-Shock and Anti Social Social Club (ASSC). In fact, this collaboration is built on the exact same base watch as the first one, the 6900 Series.

Not only does that mean it has the same signature round case, but it also boasts the same dial format with a bold digital display in the bottom half and a trio of round sub-dial-like multifunctional displays on the upper half.

Not only do the strap and dial get some special elements, but the backlight is exclusive to this release, too.

This is not just a simple rehash, however. Stylistically, this watch is worlds apart from the first collab. Instead of a black case and strap (made from the brand’s signature resin) and a vibrant sunrise-like dial, this one gets a black dial frame and a translucent white case and strap.

But it doesn’t stop there. The dial and strap also feature a delicate cherry blossom and butterfly motif that plays beautifully against the watch’s inherent ruggedness, offering a playful, off-kilter balance that ASSC fans are sure to love.

Delicate meets durable

While it may go without saying, it’s still worth noting that the more delicate, playful styling of this collaboration doesn’t compromise its intrinsic toughness in any way, shape or form.

Yes, the styling helps separate this watch from others in the 6900 Series, but the core watch remains. It still has a reliable, accurate quartz movement powered by a CR2016 battery that’s good for two years of continuous operation.

It also retains the brand’s legendary shockproofing, making this much more of a workhorse than most other watches on the market and putting it firmly in the “beater” category. It’s not that it’s cheap (although it is quite affordable), but rather that it can take a ton of punishment and keep going unfazed.

Furthermore, it retains its functionality, including alarms, a full-auto calendar, a suite of timers and a backlight. That backlight, by the way, also reveals one final, fun detail: the phrase “Get Weird” in a red version of ASSC’s signature wavy font is hidden behind the digital display.

Of course, alongside the watch, all the packaging gets the same exclusive ASSC styling.
