Anyone who missed out on acquiring one of the 75 units available in Nodus’s “tropical”-dialed, camo-strapped Sector II Field Titanium earlier this month should be pleased to hear that another, stealthier version is on the way.

This sequel features a black DLC coating and is packed with all the incredible bang-for-your-buck features that set the Los Angeles-based watchmaker apart from the microbrand crowd.

Like the Tropical LE before it, the Sector II Field Titanium DLC LE is the brand’s signature titanium field watch outfitted with a new suit of armor.

The dial is distinguished by a raised circular sector at its center, which contains the military time track and the brand’s logo at 12 o’clock. Despite the modern finish, it utilizes a classic field watch dial arrangement with large, clearly legible Arabic numeral hour markers.

It may not be a “tropical” brown, but the black dial still has a captivating fade. The darker color makes it more pronounced, transitioning from a light gray center to a matte black perimeter.

The pragmatic time-only dial achieves low-light visibility with Swiss Super-LumiNova BGW9 Grade A lume on the hands and hour markers, with a bright blue glow.

The dial is topped with a box sapphire crystal, complete with a faint blue anti-reflective coating on the underside — an above-and-beyond detail that has become a trademark for Nodus tool watches.

Black diamond

The Sector II Field Titanium DLC LE is, more or less, a new color of its Tropical LE predecessor. However, this change in pigment is achieved through a different case finish.

The Tropical LE case has an olive drab color achieved by a Cerakote coating. This updated version protects the 38mm Grade 2 titanium case with a black diamond-like coating. Both finishes are essentially two roads to the same destination, creating a tough, scratch-resistant case with a matte texture.

Cardon-based DLC is a bit pricier, which is why the DLC LE costs $25 more than the Tropical LE. It also results in a more neutral appearance, as a black watch has a much broader appeal than an olive green one.

Another feature carried over to the Sector II Field Titanium DLC LE is the DPM Hybrid TecTuff Rubber Strap, a variation on Nodus’s best-selling strap. The initial acronym stands for Disruptive Pattern Material, which is a fancy way of saying tonal camouflage.

The strap consists of a rubber frame with an inset textile layer secured with stitching. It is extremely comfortable and resistant to abrasions and moisture, and complete with a DLC-coated titanium pin buckle.

At this point, most watch enthusiasts would breeze over the Seiko-made caliber NH38 movement powering this tricked-out field watch, but Nodus goes the extra mile of regulating the wholesale movements to a measured accuracy of +/- 10 seconds per day.

Availability and price

As is to be expected, Nodus packed more than your money’s worth into the Sector II Field Titanium DLC LE. The DLC-coated titanium case and impressively regulated automatic movement alone should land somewhere closer to $1,000. And the blue AR-coated sapphire crystal, dynamic strap and high-legibility dial are just icing on the cake.

The rub is that, just like the Tropical LE before it, this toughened-up field watch is produced in extremely limited quantities. Only 75 units will be available when it hits the market on November 7.

If you’re set on the Tropical LE variation, Nodus has announced that another batch will be available in Spring 2026.
