Is This Cheeky Chronograph Poised to Be the Must-Have Watch of the Summer?

You know Mark Wahlberg’s getting one.

Last summer, Norqain proved it was more than a one-trick pony by launching a headline-grabbing watch that didn’t belong to its blockbuster Wild One family.

Watches and Wonders Geneva: Rolex, Grand Seiko and dozens of other heavy hitters gather in Switzerland every year to release their biggest watches. Catch up on all the new novelties.

The watch was the Freedom Chrono “Enjoy Life” Special Edition, an ice cream-themed version of the brand’s vintage-inspired sports chronograph. It featured a white dial with its three subdials colored in pastel shades of blue, green and pink, and the tachymeter scale split into the same three corresponding colors.

Most notably, the watch’s 4:30 date window displayed an ice cream cone every seventh day, with the intention of reminding its wearers to enjoy life and take time to reward themselves. The watch unexpectedly became a viral hit for Norqain, aided by brand fan and Hollywood horological heavyweight Mark Wahlberg touting it as the watch of the summer on social media.

While not technically launched as a limited edition, Norqain has now ended production of the “Enjoy Life,” but don’t worry. At Watches and Wonders earlier this month in Geneva, the brand added two more scoops to its summery ice cream chronograph with a pair of brand-new versions.

Sprinkle in some fun

The new “Enjoy Life” is even more overtly ice cream-themed than before, as it now comes with “sprinkles” on the dial.

Available in two “flavors,” Blue Raspberry and Strawberry, the new Enjoy Life Freedom Chrono Enjoy Life “Sprinkles” features a reverse panda layout in contrast to the original’s panda style. You get a dial in either pastel blue or pink with three white subdials tracking the chronograph minutes and hours, along with running seconds for the main timekeeping. The inner tachymeter scale surrounding the dial is also in white here to match the subdials.

But what really makes this new version extra fun is the addition of colorful sprinkles (or “Jimmies,” for my fellow New Englanders reading this). Small ovals in bright blue, green, yellow and pink cover the dial, adding a celebratory motif somewhat reminiscent of Rolex’s Oyster Perpetual “Celebration Dial” from 2023. As my colleague Ben Bowers points out, if this new “Sprinkles” dial were made by Rolex rather than Norqain, it would be so hyped that it would be impossible to obtain.

These sprinkles are quite fun in the daytime, but they’re even better at night. You wouldn’t know by looking at them, but the sprinkles are actually made of Super-LumiNova, and they glow in a mix of green and blue when the lights go down. It really adds an exciting, whimsical element to the watch that was absent from the original Enjoy Life Chrono.

The rest of the watch is largely unchanged. You still get an easy-wearing 40 x 14.9mm stainless steel case featuring pump-style pushers, a box sapphire crystal and a screw-down crown guaranteeing 100m of water resistance.

The 4:30 date window still shows a colorful ice cream cone every seventh day, and the sapphire display caseback again showcases the Sellita SW510-based movement behind a colorful “Enjoy Life” ice cream cone decal, now bearing sprinkles. The automatic chronograph movement has a 62-hour power reserve, and the dial’s hands and indices are diamond-cut, rhodium-plated and filled with Super-LumiNova.

Availability and pricing

I see no reason why the new Enjoy Life “Sprinkles” won’t become at least as big a hit as its predecessor. All of the ingredients are there: it retains the original’s fun ice cream theme, its sprinkles design is reminiscent of Rolex’s viral Celebration dial, and its pastel blue and pink dial options mimic Tudor’s red-hot Black Bay Chronos from the past two years.

Throw in a Wahlberg endorsement (which is likely on the way, given that the actor inquired about the Sprinkles in an Instagram post where he received the new Norqain Wild One Skeleton X-Lite), and you’ve got a recipe for the watch of the summer.

Two Norqain chronograph watches side by side, one with a silver case, white dial, and white strap with colorful sprinkles, the other with a black case, black dial, and black strap with glowing blue sprinkles.
The watch is also available on a white rubber strap with glow-in-the-dark sprinkles.

However, you don’t have to wait until the summer to buy one. The Norqain Wild One Freedom Chrono Enjoy Life “Sprinkles” is available now from Norqain, with production limited to 500 pieces in each color for 2026 (there will be more next year, but production numbers will likely remain small).

On the steel bracelet, the watch retails for $6,290, and you also have the option of getting it on a white rubber strap covered in colorful sprinkles that glow in the dark for $6,150.
