Timex’s Expedition field watch has long been a staple of the brand’s catalog. While not quite as stylish as the Q Timex series, it remains an exceptionally affordable, hardworking, military-inspired timepiece.

That said, the newest addition to the lineup looks like it might shift the balance a bit. The Timex Expedition Capstone still bears the hallmarks of the lineup, but in a much sleeker, sportier package than ever before.

Just in case

There are a few new elements introduced by this new Expedition Capstone field watch. The first of them is its case. For the first time, this watch introduces a 39-millimeter case to the Expedition lineup.

But it’s not just the size that sets this case apart. It also has a gunmetal colorway and a brushed finish, adding some texture, character and sleekness to the lineup.

The dial features vibrant lume on the indices and hands, and there’s a date window at the 3 o’clock position.

Despite the changes, this watch still bears the classic hallmarks of field watches, including Timex’s most classic takes on the Expedition. For instance, it lacks a bezel, keeping it minimalist and straightforward.

It also sports large dial indices and vibrant lume on the hour markers and hands, and boasts a handy date window at the 3 o’clock position for a little extra utility.

Right on time

The case isn’t the only thing the Expedition Capstone has going for it. This watch also introduces a new strap style.

Available in two colorways — black and green — it’s a soft, flexible silicone strap with a standard clasp. That makes it highly wearable, durable, weather-resistant and more.

The strap also features quick-release spring bars, so you can swap out the strap in seconds flat without the need for any tools.

The 39-millimeter case with its mineral crystal is also only 10 millimeters deep, helping keep the watch pretty compact. Inside, it sports Timex’s signature Quartz Analog movement, which is both highly accurate and affordable.

Now available

The Timex Expedition Capstone is now available on the brand’s site for just $129. However, it looks like the all-black version is already sold out. That said, the green is still available, and you can sign up for restock notifications if you’re dead-set on all-black.
